We make and sell a range of fireplace opening tiles (also known as opening Blocks) which are used to form the part of the tiled fireplace that immediately borders the fire.

Fireplace blocks are even thicker and stronger than ordinary fireplace tiles, having to withstand the direct heat of the fire.

Generally we keep stocks of the Bisque (unglazed tiles) and glaze them to the colour ordered.Frequently asked questions
What are opening tiles?Also known as opening blocks, they form the part of the tiled fireplace that immediately borders the fire. They are made thicker and stronger than ordinary fireplace tiles because they have to withstand the direct heat of the fire.
Can I use ordinary tiles around the fireplace opening?No. This is the hottest position in a fireplace. See which tiles are heat resistant for what each part of a fireplace needs.
Do you make them in any colour?We generally keep stocks of the bisque, the unglazed tiles, and glaze them to the colour ordered. See tile crazing, colours and cutting for our colour range.
