Running Tile Sets
These sets of decorative fireplace tiles are designed to fit in cast iron fireplace inserts from the late Victorian period through to the first world war. They usually come as a set of ten fireplace tiles.
The fireplace tiles can also be incorporated into slabbed panels to fit either side of a 'canopy on legs' style of fireplace. The decorative tiles are framed by plain tiles in various colours and sizes and the whole panel straddles the gap between the canopy and the fireplace mantel, usually angled back into the chimney breast.
The background of these tiles is hand glazed as are the flower pictures so it is almost impossible to match colours to a background glaze. Traditionally it would be the decorative colours of the flowers and leaves that would be used around the tiles rather than the background.
